Powderhorn

Powder Horn is an Outdoor/High Adventure resource management source designed to motivate and prepare adult and youth leaders to provide their unit with safe and correct Outdoor/High Adventure activities. Because it’s run through Venturing, it concentrates on the 26 program areas involved with the Ranger Award. The course will update you on the new Venturing rank advancement and Trust award. You do not have to be a Venture Scout to participate, the experiences provided participants and the resources they’ll be put in touch with can be applied to every level of Scouting, from Webelos on up. Therefore, all Scout leaders as well as Venturing Crew members and Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts ages 14 and up are invited to participate

 

Over the six days, you can expect tips on physical fitness, opportunities for C.O.P.E., climbing and scuba diving, as well as presentations on bicycling, backpacking, communications, winter sports, first aid, trip planning, fishing, land navigation and watercraft activities. The fun will continue with presentation on caving, equestrian handling, settles in to a LNT on the go activities, an outdoor cooking presentation, and shooting and more! You will meet professional and seasoned hobbyist that will share their tricks and trades.

 

This course will help adult and youth leaders safely conduct outdoor activities of a FUN and challenging nature. It will introduce you to resources to help lead units through an Outdoor/High Adventure program. This course will also help familiarize Scouts and Scouters with additional programs to help their Scouts successfully meet their requirements for other high adventure. By the time you are ready to leave, physically tired, grown attached to a whole new group of scouting friends, and be re-energized to having fun.

 

Powerhorn takes place over two weekends. May 20-22 at Gardner Dam Scout Camp and June 3-5 at Hanna Venture Base.

 

The cost is $250

Venturing Fest

VenturingFest 2016 is the first National Venturing event to be hosted at the summit. Participants will have access to the summit's many available activities, such as rock climbing, skateboarding, BMX biking, water sports, shooting sports, zip lines, challenge courses, and more.

 

Costs:

Adults $300

Youth $400

Spring Whitewater Weekends

Whitewater kayaking on the Wolf River is available for all Venturers and Boy Scouts who are at least 13 years old and have completed the 8th grade, as well as all leaders and parents. Participants are thought techniques and safety of whitewater kayaking. In addition to kayaking, the participants will be able to use the camp's COPE and climbing area, as well as enjoy movies and campfires.


Bay-Lakes council provides trained leadership, supervision, and instruction as well as all equipment, food, and sleeping arangements. All participants must be a BSA Swimmer and have a completed medical form.


Cost is $40 per weekend or $70 for two sessions. Registration day of the event is $45.

Venturing Winteree

The winteree confernece is a great opportunity to meet other Venturers from Bay Lakes Council and to get valuable Venturing information and training, such as ILSC (Introduction to Leadership Skills for Crews), Advisor Training, Ethical Controversies, and Project/Time Management Training.

 

Cost for the entire weekends is $30 for youth and $20 for adults. Coming up for Saturday only is $15 for youth and $10 for adults. Registration after March 5 costs an additional $5.
